Haparanda Adds To Rock Of Gibraltar’s Impressive Stakes Record
Haparanda (4f Rock Of Gibraltar - Hazarafa, by Daylami) gained a deserved black-type success on Tuesday when justifying favouritism in the Listed Oyster Stakes at Galway.
Third in a similar contest last time out, the Dermot Weld trained-filly was the highest-rated contender of the mile and a half test. Racing towards the back of the field under Colin Keane, she made smooth headway from three furlongs out and was pushed along to lead a furlong later. Running on strongly inside the final furlong, she scored by two and a quarter lengths, as Woodland Garden (Galileo) claimed runners-up honours.
Owned and bred by His Highness the Aga Khan, Haparanda becomes Rock Of Gibraltar’s 62nd individual Listed winner, and may now bid to add to his tally of 75 Group winners.
