Heart looks smart for Mastercraftsman
Unbeaten Mastercraftsman filly Hand On Heart (3f Mastercraftsman-Insight, by Sadler's Wells) looks set to become another black-type performer for her sire after winning well at the Curragh on Friday.
A winner on her debut at Limerick in April, the Fozzy Stack-trained filly stayed on strongly in the Curragh conditions event to win by a length and three-quarters.
"She's so relaxed,” said jockey Chris Hayes. “She's saving plenty of energy and doing it on the track. I couldn't fault her today - she jumped and she travelled, she quickened up. I got there a fraction too soon on her and she had a look around. I had a bit left in the tank. She handles the ground well so onwards and upwards now.”
Stack added: “She’s won two races now nicely and we’ll probably go for something like the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes (at Gowran Park). I didn’t know what to expect coming here but it’s worked out.”
Hand On Heart was bred by the Niarchos fanily.
Meanwhile, also on Friday the Fittocks Stud home-bred Saving Grace (3f Mastercraftsman-Lady Of Everest, by Montjeu) won a Lingfield maiden for trainer Luca Cumani in the style of a smart filly.
