High Demand Continues For St Mark’s Basilica Covers
St Mark’s Basilica’s first mares continued to return impressive figures at the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale, where they generated over €1million on the opening day of trade.
Mares offered in foal to the champion two and three-year-old made a bright start at Goffs, where they fetched up to €290,000, and turned up the tempo at Tattersalls, selling for up to 1.4million guineas and a session-topping 800,000gns.
Well-related winner Frisella continued the trend on Saturday when knocked down to Oceanic Bloodstock for €650,000. The six-year-old is a half-sister to Group performer Ricetta (Camelot) and hails from the top-class Juddmonte family of Kingman and Oasis Dream.
Love Conquers All (3f Fastnet Rock - Highest Ever, by Galileo) is another example of the beautifully-bred mares sent to St Mark’s Basilica in his first season at stud. The full-sister to dual Stakes winner and multiple Group-placed Joie De Soir (Fastnet Rock) brought a final bid of €420,000 from BBA Ireland.
