Highland Reel Colt Beats Classy Field At Goodwood
The future looks bright for Inverness (2c Highland Reel - Four Eleven, by Arch), who beat a host of well-bred juveniles to land a Class 2 maiden at Goodwood on Tuesday.
The Charlie Hills-trained bay raced towards the back of the field for much of the mile trip and began to make headway from two furlongs out. Pushed along approaching the final furlong, he kept on strongly to win by a neck under Kieran Shoemark.
Speaking after the race, Hills commented, “We've always liked Inverness, who ran a lovely race first time. He's a horse who will go a mile and a half next year and he's a lovely action - he's very light on his feet - so fast ground suits. We'll see how he is and speak to his owner Steven Rocco and his partners about plans.”
A €110,000 yearling purchase, Inverness was bred by Knockainey Stud and is closely related to two useful types by Gleneagles.
