Highland Reel Colt Proves Far Too Good For Rivals
Highland Premiere (2c Highland Reel - Forthefirstime, by Dr Fong) continued on an upward curve on Wednesday when recording back-to-back wins in fine style at Catterick.
Successful over six furlongs last month, the Mark Johnston-trained colt stepped up to seven furlongs on his latest start and was ridden to make all by Ben Curtis. Extending his advantage from two furlongs out, he soon looked the likely winner and ran on to win by three and a quarter lengths, eased down.
Bred by Worksop Manor Stud, Highland Premier hails from the first crop of globetrotting superstar Highland Reel. The son of Galileo himself won two of his three juvenile starts, including at Group 2 level, and would go on to capture seven Group 1 prizes across three continents.
