Highland Reel Filly Quickens Smartly To Maiden Success
Didn’thavemuchtodo (3f Highland Reel - In Her Stride, by Mastercraftsman) showed the benefit of experience when running out a taking winner of Wednesday’s fillies maiden at Naas.
Ridden by Declan McDonogh on her third start, the Joseph O’Brien-trained bay raced in midfield for much of the mile contest and made headway from two furlongs out. Running on well despite showing signs of greenness, she led inside the final 110 yards and went on to score by a length and three quarters, going away.
“Today she was on the ball,” assistant trainer Brendan Powell said after the race. “He dropped her in and she quickened up like a smart filly. She’s tough and loves the fast ground.”
Didn’thavemuchtodo races in the colours of JP McManus and was bred by Mrs Noreen McManus. The first crop daughter of Highland Reel becomes the first winner out of maiden winner In Her Stride (Mastercraftsman).
