Highland Reel Represented By Well Bred Yearlings At The Orby Sale
International buyers will descend on Doncaster for the relocated Goffs Orby Sale this week, where the first yearlings by globetrotting superstar Highland Reel are sure to appeal to many.
First to represent the son of Galileo in the sales ring is Lot 34 from Marlhill House Stud. The March-born bay is a brother to Grade 1 winner Redwood (High Chaparral) and is a grandson of dual Group 1 winner Jolypha. European champion three-year-old Dancing Brave features further down the page.
Later on Wednesday afternoon, Monksland Stables offer a daughter of Highland Reel (Lot 200) out of a half-sister to Stakes performer and black-type producer Illusion. She, too, hails from a family of top-class racehorses, including Hooray, Dazzle, and Danehurst.
The following morning, Tinnakill House offer their homebred brother to Irish St Leger hero Wicklow Brave (Lot 295). Catalogued as Lot 295, the bay is a grandson of Group 3 winner Cantilever, while his fourth dam Sarah Siddons won the Irish 1,000 Guineas and Yorkshire Oaks.
He will be shortly followed by Peter Nolan Bloodstock’s colt out of a winning sister to Tattersalls Gold Cup victor Casual Conquest and Irish 1,000 Guineas Trial winner Afternoon Sunlight (Lot 297).
Glenvale Stud consign another well-related colt in Lot 450; a half-brother to Stakes performer Touchline; herself the dam of Group 3 second First Receiver. His winning dam is a half-sister to three black-type performers who all produced Stakes horses, most notable Ribblesdale Stakes heroine Trianon.
Next through the ring is Lot 451 from Baroda Stud; a grandson of champion older mare Shiva; also known as a half-sister to Oaks heroine Light Shift; herself the dam of Ulysses (Galileo). Group 1 Prix Ganay victor Cloth Of Stars features further down the page.
