Highly Recommended Highland Reel Filly Sells For Six Figures
A filly from the second crop of Highland Reel will join the in-form stable of David Loughnane, after selling for 125,000gns at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale.
After signing for the Aguiar Bloodstock-offered bay, agent Micheal Orlandi said, “Dave came here after racing at Ascot yesterday, saw her this morning and liked her. She came highly recommended.”
Her sire was also a factor, Orlandi added, “Dave has one by Highland Reel that he likes a lot, which gave him a lot of confidence for this filly. Highland Reel was such a good racehorse.”
The daughter of Highland Reel is out of a Fastnet Rock mare, and the similar Galileo cross has produced numerous top-flight performers. She hails from the family of 2,000 Guineas victor and proven sire Footstepsinthesand, as well as three-time Group 1 Prix de la Foret heroine One Master (Fastnet Rock).
Highland Reel’s first two-year-olds made a bright start last season, producing Group 2 scorer Atamisque (Highland Reel), with progeny expected to progress with time, as their sire did. Comanche Country (Highland Reel), who hails from his second crop, made an eye catching debut at Naas earlier this week, when narrowly denied by the exciting Deneuve (No Nay Never).
