Homebred Son Of Churchill Impresses On Debut
Teutates (3g Churchill - War Goddess, by Champs Elysees) emerged as a useful prospect when overcoming a slow start to take Friday’s mile maiden at Dundalk.
The Donnacha O’Brien-trained newcomer was slowly into stride, before improving to race in mid-division under Paddy Harnett. The bay showed signs of inexperience when asked to challenge two furlongs from home and was ridden to lead a furlong later. Running on well, he won by three parts of a length.
“It was a nice performance,” the winning rider later commented. “They went an even gallop and it rode like a real nice race. There's a big engine there and even to look at him, he's a fine horse.”
Owned by Mrs Anne Marie O’Brien, the promising son of Churchill was bred by Whisperview Trading out of a homebred full-sister to Group performer Glaring.
