New Gr.2 winner for No Nay Never

The Alduino Botti-trained Chestnut Honey (3c No Nay Never - Ardea Brave, by Chester House) charged home to land Sunday’s Group 2 Premio Federico Tesio at San Siro.

Racing over eleven furlongs, the dual Listed winner was ridden towards the back of the field by Fabio Branca. Improving from three furlongs out, he ran on to take second approaching the final furlong and stayed on close home to deny French raider Royal Julius. The pair finished three and a half lengths clear of the third horse, German visitor Sword Peinture (Peintre Celebre).

Speaking after the race, the winning jockey said, “He will stay further and could be a horse for the Gr.2 Gran Premio del Jockey Club.” Alduino Botti added, “He is by No Nay Never but he has a lot of stamina from his dam Ardea Brave, a filly trained by my son Marco who won in England over 2400m. He really relished the trip and when I looked at him at the sale he said: ‘Buy me, buy me’.”

Chestnut Honey was bred by Camogue Stud and is a half-brother to the consistent miler Captain Joy.
