Great Scot At Haydock

Impressive Group 3 Victory For Son Of Requinto

The Tom Dascombe-trained Great Scot (3g Requinto - La Rosiere, by Mr Greeley) made all to run out an impressive winner of Saturday’s Group 3 Superior Mile Stakes at Haydock.

He raced keenly out in front under Richard Kingscote, who asked him to quicken over a furlong out and his mount easily obliged, racing clear to win by three lengths and three quarters. Speaking after the race, his winning trainer said, “He ran really well at Salisbury last time and today, on his second run after gelding, he has bolted in. We're thinking about Dubai. Now that he's a gelding, he's a prize-money horse and the prize money is in Dubai and places like that.”

A Listed winner at two, this was a well-deserved maiden pattern success for the three-year-old, having been beaten just half a length in the German 2,000 Guineas and just over a length in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes.

Owned by the Empire State Racing Partnership, Great Scot was bred by Clyne, Mound and Thompson. The son of Requinto comes from the family of Sleepytime, Ali-Royal and Taipan.
