You Send Me (Starspangledbanner) Wins Her Maiden At Cork

Impressive Starspangledbanner Filly Boosts Classic Claims

You Send Me (3f Starspangledbanner - Coco Rouge, by Shamardal) may take her chance in a Guineas Trial after running out a smart winner of the seven furlong Fillies Maiden at Cork on Saturday.

A promising fifth at the Curragh on her sole juvenile start, the Fozzy Stack-trained chesnut was well-supported on return and was ridden in mid-division by Mark Enright. Shaken up approaching the final furlong, she improved to lead soon after and was pushed clear to win by an easy three and a half lengths.

Speaking after the race, Stack said, “We'll see how she comes out of this and, if it doesn't take too much out of her, we might look at a Guineas Trial. She is very big and still very raw and could even make a better filly next year than this year.”

A €100,000 yearling purchase, You Send Me holds an entry in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. Bred by Joe and Edel Banahan with Michael Smith, the daughter of Starspangledbanner is owned by Craig Bernick, Cayton Park Stud and Mrs Paul Shanahan.
