Iridessa Rules in G1 Fillies’ Mile
Ruler Of The World had a first-crop G1 success on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on Friday when Joseph O’Brien sent out Iridessa (2f Ruler Of The World-Senta’s Dream, by Danehill) to win the G1 Fillies’ Mile.
The Wayne Lordan-ridden juvenile was always well positioned before hitting the front a furlong from home and going on to win by a length and a half from Hermosa (2f Galileo-Beauty Is Truth, by Pivotal).
The victory saw Iridessa cut to 14/1 favourite for the 2018 Oaks with many bookmakers.
"We always loved the filly and we expected her to run well," said O’Brien. "She did it well and Wayne gave her a great ride. She travelled well and I thought she quickened up well. We're delighted.
"She ran well in the Curragh in a very messy race and then got drawn almost widest of all at Leopardstown, so on her last two runs she never got a fair crack at it really. Today was a fairly-run race and she showed how good she is."
Owned by Chantal Regalado-Gonzalez, Iridessa was bred by Whisperview Trading.
