No Nay Never Paddock

It’s No Nay Never again and again at Fairyhouse

There was one sire on everybody’s minds as day two of the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale in Fairyhouse on Wednesday got underway,No Nay Never.

EBN commented: “It was all about No Nay Never through the first few hours of the second session as the leading first season sire was responsible for one high-profile lot after another. Following a season in which his first runners have included horses of the calibre of the unbeaten Ten Sovereigns, No Nay Never has made a dream start at stud and buyers have clearly engaged with the Scat Daddy horse’s accomplishments to date.

“He was responsible for a trio of six-figure transactions within the first two hours of Wednesday’s session.”

Heading the way was a €120,000 colt out of a Starspangledbanner half-sister to Molecomb Stakes winner Tournedos sold to Alex Elliott.

“He has been bought for a new client and will be going into training with Jeremy Noseda in Newmarket,” said Elliott. “I loved everything about him and, to be honest, I thought that he was the best physical in the sale. The sire has been carrying all before him, much like his father did, and I was thrilled to get this colt, as I didn’t think that we’d be able to buy him."

Godolphin own a smart No Nay Never juvenile in Art Du Val (2c No Nay Never-Aquarelle Rare, by Rainbow Quest) and a €105,000 filly, knocked down to Matt Coleman, will carry the same colours next year.

“She has been bought for Anthony Stroud on behalf of Godolphin,” said Coleman. “Both Anthony and David Loder loved her when they saw her here. She’s a good-looking filly and the sire has got off to a very good start.”

Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland is another No Nay Never fan and he snapped up a €100,000 colt (pictured) for Zhang Yuesheng’s Yulong Investments.

“He looks a lovely, sharp two-year-old type and the hope is that he might make up into an Ascot type next summer. He is a May foal, but he doesn’t look it at all, and Mr Zhang is a big fan of the stallion,” said Donohoe.
