Likeable Churchill Filly Delivers On Debut
Twirling (3f Churchill - Turning Top, by Pivotal) ran down the even-money favourite to make a winning debut in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Kempton on Wednesday.
Racing over a mile, Simon and Ed Crisford’s newcomer raced prominently under Jack Mitchell and was pushed along approaching the final furlong. Soon ridden, she kept on well to lead close home and beat the more experienced market leader by half a length. The pair finished two and a half lengths clear of the third.
Owned by Mrs Doreen Tabor, the daughter of Churchill was bred by Chelston Ireland.
