Magical G2 win for Galileo filly
Last season’s G2 Debutante Stakes heroine Magical (3f Galileo-Halfway To Heaven, by Pivotal) looks set to make up for lost time this year following her superb win in the G2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
It was only a second start of the year for the Aidan O’Brien-trained Galileo filly but she looks sure to make her mark at the top level after this two and three-quarter lengths victory under Ryan Moore.
"We had her ready to run in the G1 Oaks (at Epsom), it was the plan to run her, but she just knocked the inside of her joint and then it just took a long time for the swelling to go down and the soreness to go out so she got held up,” explained O’Brien.
"We had her in the Irish Oaks on Saturday but we were afraid to run her as we were afraid she wasn't fit enough. This was a nice start back for her and hopefully she's okay.
"She's a lovely filly, how far she'll stay I'm not sure. We'll see how she is but we could have a look at the G1 Yorkshire Oaks with her. The whole rest of the season is in front of her.”
