Magna Grecia Colt On Target At Chester

Loaded Gun (2c Magna Grecia – Temerity, by Zoffany) finished strongly to gain a deserved maiden win in Saturday’s five furlong Novice Stakes at Chester.

Andrew Balding’s charge was last seen finishing a close third in a Goodwood maiden, having previously finished a promising fourth in a Class 2 Condition Stakes. Partnered by David Probert on Saturday, he chased the leaders in the early stages and was shaken up two furlongs from home. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he ran on strongly to assert close home and by a length on the line, with another three lengths and three quarters back to the third.

Owned by Michael Blencowe, Loaded Gun was bred by Khalid Mishref and Joe Hernon. The €75,000 yearling buy continues a fine start at stud by Magna Grecia, who recently enjoyed Stakes success with Myconian (Magna Grecia) at Deauville.
