Magna Grecia Filly Quickens Away On Debut
Ms Brightside (2f Magna Grecia - Rope A Dope, by Bungle Inthejungle) followed up her win in a barrier trial with a smart racecourse debut in Friday’s six furlong maiden at Fairyhouse.
The Gavin Cromwell-trained newcomer raced prominently under Gary Carroll, who asked her to quicken approaching the two furlong pole. The bay showed signs of greenness before producing a good turn of foot inside the final furlong and ran on well to score by two lengths and three quarters.
“She did it well,” said Gavin Cromwell after the race. “We'll have a look at the calendar now and see. She could potentially be for sale, but if not she could go for a bit of black-type somewhere.”
Owned and bred by Nigel O’Hare, Ms Brightside hails from the first crop of top-class miler Magna Grecia. The freshman sire’s juveniles include fellow debut scorers Myconian and Mister Salvo, as well as dual winner Vento Da Sud.
