Mares In Foal To No Nay Never Light Up Tattersalls
A fine pedigree and desirable cover saw Lady In Lights (Lot 1707) enjoy her moment in the spotlight on Tuesday, when selling to Baroda Stud for 520,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale.
The half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Magna Grecia and Dewhurst Stakes victor St Mark’s Basilica was offered in foal to No Nay Never, who sired his third individual Group 1 winner this season in Alcohol Free.
After signing the docket, Baroda’s David Cox said, “She's a lovely mare and obviously has a very active pedigree. She has been bought for a client, and we look forward to selling some nice yearlings out of her. We've had no thoughts about stallions yet, but No Nay Never is a great sire so we look forward to seeing what she produces to sell as a yearling.”
European Sales Management had little time to wait in offering another highlight, with multiple Graded winner Elysea’s World (Champs Elysees) bringing 450,000gns from Katsumi Yoshida just two lots later.
The daughter of Champs Elysees won her maiden in France before travelling Stateside, where she captured four Grade 3 contests and amassed over £500,000 in prize money.
No Nay Never was also chosen as the maiden cover for Can’t Buy Me Love (Lot 1701), an own-sister to Stakes performer Battle Of Jericho, out of Grade 1 winner Together (Galileo). Offered by Norelands Stud, the four-year-old was knocked down to Lake Villa Farm at 330,000gns.
Norelands Stud was also responsible for selling the unraced Galileo mare Lady Corsica (Lot 1698) for 310,000gns to BBA Ireland. Carrying an April cover to No Nay Never, the four-year-old bay is a full-sister to Grade 1 Belmont Derby victor Deauville (Galileo) and Group 3 Arc Trial winner The Corsican (Galileo).
A covering to No Nay Never saw Frisella’s value rise from 90,000gns to 320,000gns on Tuesday, with her most recent price paid by Yohea. Bought at last year’s sale by Avenue Bloodstock, the winning sister to Group performer Ricetta (Camelot) was re-offered by The Castlebridge Consignment as Lot 1635.
Avenue Bloodstock are hoping for further success with one of their latest purchases, black-type performer Flower Fashion (Lot 1308), who was offered by Baroda Stud in foal to No Nay Never. Bought for 180,000gns, the bay is one of three Stakes horses out of Listed winner Winter Fashion.
