Mastercraftsman Colt Books Ticket To Italian Derby
Mastercraftsman sired his second Stakes winner in as many days when Agente Segreto (3c Mastercraftsman - Adamantina, by Diktat) ran out an easy winner of the Listed Premio Emanuele Filiberto at San Siro on Easter Monday.
The winner of his maiden three weeks ago, it marked a significant step up in class for the Nicolo Simondi-trained grey, this being the most reliable trial for the Italian Derby. Fabio Branco rode him to chase the leaders, quickening from the three furlong point and, with a shake of the reins, produced a challenge two furlongs from home. Galloping home strongly, he beat longtime leader Thunderman by two lengths.
"He has booked his ticket for the Derby Italiano, but we have just won a battle, now we need to win the war. He is an improving colt and the extra time will play into his hands.” jockey Fabio Branca.
A Scuderia Incolinx homebred, Agente Segreto becomes the second black-type winner out of the dual Stakes-winning mare Adamantina.
