Tara (Mastercraftsman) Wins At Clairefontaine

Mastercraftsman Filly Races Clear To Maiden Victory

Tara (3f Mastercraftsman - Lady Viola, by Sir Percy) gained a well-deserved maiden success on Friday, when running out an impressive winner over a mile and three furlongs at Clairefontaine.

Trained by Carlos and Yann Lerner for Anthony Edward Pakenham and Marion le Menestrel, the daughter of Mastercraftsman was unraced at two and began her three-year-old career with three placings. Friday saw her break smartly to chase the leaders under Eddy Hardouin and she improved to lead upon entering the straight. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she raced home strongly to win by eight lengths.

Bred by Anthony and Victoria Pakenham, Tara is the first foal out of Lady Viola, herself a full-sister to a Stakes performer and a half-sister to dual Group winner Meeznah.

Tara continues a fine run for Castle Hyde Stud sire Mastercraftsman, whose son Extra Elusive won the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes last weekend, while Mastercraftsman also enjoyed a Stakes double last month.
