Mastercraftsman Rewards Vendors In Spades At Book 2

Denis McDonnell’s Parkway Farm enjoyed a dream result at Tattersalls when his Mastercraftsman filly was knocked down to Cormac McCormack on behalf of MV Magnier for 325,000gns.

The bay (Lot 1215) is out of maiden winner Simkana, who was bought as a broodmare for €57,000 before her daughter Simannka (Mastercraftsman) finished third at Listed level.

The Gleeson family of Aughamore Stud were another to celebrate a fantastic result at Park Paddocks after selling their Mastercraftsman colt for 210,000gns to Andrew Balding. From the family of Fame And Glory and Legatissimo, the grey colt produced a tremendous return on his foal price of €62,000.

On the colt’s appeal, Michael Gleeson said, “When we bought him we liked his Classic pedigree, with the likes of Legatissimo, Fame And Glory and Farhh, and we thought that by putting Mastercraftsman into the mix he might appeal to the international market. Trainers who like a staying type of horse might take him with a view to selling at a later date.”

Among the other purchasers of Mastercraftsman’s progeny at Book 2 were Blandford Bloodstock, who bought a colt from Camas Park Stud for 130,000gns, while Dermot Farrington joined forces with John and Jake Warren to buy Highclere Stud’s filly for 140,000gns.
