Minaun Completes Weekend Stakes Double For Zoffany
Zoffany sired his second Stakes winner of the weekend when Minaun (2f Zoffany - Bee Eater, by Green Desert) lost her maiden tag in fine style in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained filly finished a promising second to Oodnadatta (Australia) on debut last month and dropped back to six furlongs at Cork. Racing second under Chris Hayes, she improved to lead approaching the final furlong and was driven out to win by a neck.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “We've always really liked her. Chris [Hayes] was delighted with her. She'll stay further and is out of a really good Loder family. She has an entry in the Moyglare Stud Stakes and is growing and maturing all the time.”
Minaun was bred by Sir Edmund Loder out of the Listed-placed sprinter Bee Eater and comes from the family of Marwell, Marling and Caerwent. Minaun’s win comes just a day after Mother Earth (Zoffany) captured the Group 3 Fillies’ Sprint Stakes, having finished third in the Albany Stakes on her previous start.
