Dylan Thomas Head Shot

More To Come From Son Of Dylan Thomas

Milkwood (5g Dylan Thomas - Tropical Lake, by Lomond) produced a late challenge to justify favoritism in Wednesday’s bumper at Fontwell.

A fine second last time out over course and distance, the Neil Mulholland-trained bay seemed to appreciate the more patient tactics on his latest start, as he was held up at the back of the field by James Best. Making good headway to press the leaders two furlongs from home, he moved upsides the leader in the final furlong and was pushed out to gain the advantage in the final 100 yards, prevailing by a length on the line.

“It was a very nice performance and everything went smoothly. His experience helped but he has done it like a horse that could go on and progress further. I don't see any reason why he couldn't be a nice horse next year.” James Best, jockey.

Milkwood is owned by Ms J. Bridel and was bred by John Boden and Willie Kane.

A half-brother to two Group winners on the flat, he is out of the talented dual-purpose performer Tropical Lake, who won at Grade 2 level over hurdles at Aintree.
