No Nay Never Among Popular Sires At Tattersalls Craven Sale

A daughter of champion first season sire No Nay Never proved in demand at Wednesday’s Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale, bringing 230,000gns from John and Jake Warren.

The Star Bloodstock-consigned filly is a half-sister to Listed sprinter Master Speaker (Danehill Dancer) and hails from the Moyglare family of Media Puzzle, Rich Tapestry and Refuse To Bend. Jake Warren spoke of the pricey purchase, “I thought this filly's breeze was fantastic, she's by a top sire and the mare has already produced one who can run - it's a deep pedigree. She's got all the hallmarks of a really good two-year-old.” Warren also confirmed that she would go into training with William Haggas.

Another No Nay Never filly who was popular with buyers was Lot 81 consigned by Greenhills Farm, who sold for 160,000gns to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock and the Cool Silk Partnership. The half-sister to black-type performer Damselfly shares her page with Dolphin Street, Listen, Saffron Walden and Henrythenavigator.

Starspangledbanner, who is enjoying an excellent season so far, also enjoyed success at the Craven Sale, where his offerings sold for 220,000gns and 200,000gns apiece. Jamie McCalmont, acting on behalf of M.V. Magnier, went to 220,000gns for a bay colt offered by Grove Stud and connections would presumably hope of a potential stallion career for their purchase, coming from the family of Alamshar.

Stroud Coleman Bloodstock, meanwhile, bid 200,000gns on behalf of James Given for a chestnut Starspangledbanner colt offered by Yeomanstown Stud. He, too, boasts an excellent pedigree, being a grandson of Group 1 performer Sundrop, while Northern Spur features further down the page.

Zoffany also sired two six-figure sales, led by Jake Warren’s 145,000gns buy from Mocklershill. The chesnut colt is a half-brother to Listed winner Ballet Shoes (Galileo), out of the black-type mare Emerald Ring.

Peter and Ross Doyle were the buyers of Lot 173 from Lynn Lodge Stud, a bay colt out of Fabulous (Galileo), an unraced mare closely related to Decorated Knight (Galileo) and a half-sister to the great Giant’s Causeway and You’resothrilling.

Charlie Gordon-Watson, meanwhile, went to 145,000gns for Mayfield Stud’s son of Australia, bred out of a full-sister to Listed winner Preferential.
