No Nay Never Colt Goes One Better At Leopardstown
The promising Igor Stravinsky (3c No Nay Never – Hermosa, by Galileo) overcame a wide draw to win his second start in Sunday’s seven furlong maiden at Leopardstown.
Aidan O’Brien’s charge was headed in the final strides of a Curragh maiden last month and appeared to appreciate Sunday’s better ground. Wayne Lordan partnered the bay to lead from the early stages and asked him for more when challenged approaching the final furlong. He ran on well to beat the favourite by two and a quarter lengths, with another two lengths back to White Clover (Starspangledbanner) in third.
“We felt he'd come forward a nice bit from his debut,” Ballydoyle representative Chris Armstrong said after the race. “He won well and when Colin's horse came to him he put the head down and lengthened to the line.”
A step up to Stakes company may now be on the cards for the Coolmore homebred, who is the first foal out of dual Guineas winner Hermosa (Galileo).
