No Nay Never Colt Makes Perfect Start At The Curragh
Aidan O’Brien described Wichita (2c No Nay Never - Lumiere Noire, by Dashing Blade) as “a lovely horse” after the bay made a winning debut at the Curragh on Friday.
18 lined up for the seven furlong maiden, with Seamie Heffernan settling the eventual winner behind the leaders. Making headway to take third approaching the final furlong, he quickened well when switched left and led close home, beating Fiscal Rules by a head.
Owned by Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor, Wichita was a 140,000gns yearling purchase by MV Magnier and Amanda Skiffington. He was bred by Max Ervine out of Listed winner Lumiere Noire, herself a half-sister to Grade 1 victor Desert Blanc.
