No Nay Never Colt Plays Starring Role At Killarney
Horoscope (3c No Nay Never - Inca Wood, by Timber Country) led home a 1-2 for Coolmore Stud sires in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race at Killarney on Monday.
Sent off a short-priced favourite for the mile contest, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt tracked the leaders under Emmet McNamara and was pushed along to lead from two furlongs out. Clear entering the final furlong, he kept on well to win by a length and a quarter from Eylara (Gleneagles), who finished four lengths clear of the third horse.
“I rode him first time out when he ran a nice race,” McNamara later commented. “He has progressed up through the ranks and has been competing in better company. He is a nice genuine No Nay Never.”
Successful in a Curragh maiden winner at the start of the season, Horoscope gained black-type in the Listed Tetrarch Stakes in May and holds an entry in Sunday’s Group 2 Minstrel Stakes. The son of No Nay Never was bred by Lynch Bages and sold for 300,000gns as a yearling.
