No Nay Never Colt Quickens Clear To Maiden Victory

The promising Zameka (3c No Nay Never - Al Ihsas, by Danehill) took another step forward on Saturday to get off the mark in the seven furlong novice stakes at Wolverhampton.

A close third on debut in November, he was beaten just a neck earlier this month and was unsurprisingly sent off favourite at the weekend. Ridden to lead by Rossa Ryan, the Roger Varian-trained bay quickened clear from two furlongs out and despite showing signs of inexperience, kept on well to win by two and three quarter lengths.

Owned by Timms, Greenhalgh and Townbraccan, Zameka was bought by his trainer as a yearling for $170,000. The son of No Nay Never was bred by Ms Suzanne Macken and is a full-brother to the 95-rated Eagle Song (No Nay Never).
