No Nay Never Colt Remains Unbeaten In Birdcatcher

King Of Bavaria (2c No Nay Never - Enharmonic, by E Dubai) produced a fine weight-carrying performance to take the Birdcatcher Nursery at Naas on Sunday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt made a winning debut at the track in May, with beaten rivals Silver Surfer (Caravaggio) and Andreas Vesalius (Caravaggio) having both earned black-type since. Carrying top weight on return, he raced towards the back of the field and made headway from halfway, improving to lead a furlong from home. Running on well, he scored by a length and a half under Seamie Heffernan.

“We thought he was an Ascot horse when we ran him here in May but he just had a little bit of a setback and didn't get back,” O’Brien later explained. “We're delighted with him today. We could start him off in a Guineas Trial next year.”

Owned by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Westerberg, King Of Bavaria cost connections $300,000 as a yearling. The unbeaten son of No Nay Never was bred by Samac and Summerhill Bloodstock out of a close relation to Distant Music.
