No Nay Never Colt Strengthens Classic Claims At The Curragh
Horoscope (3c No Nay Never - Inca Wood, by Timber Country) will contest next month’s 2,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown after justifying favouritism in Saturday’s seven furlong maiden at the Curragh.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt finished a promising fourth on debut over course and distance last October and improved to finish second later that month. Ryan Moore took the ride on return, positioning the bay behind the leaders and asked him to quicken from two furlongs out. Leading inside the final furlong, the bay kept on well to win by a length and three quarters.
Horoscope completed a double on the day for Ballydoyle, Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor, having landed the fillies’ maiden with homebred Joan Of Arc (Galileo), a full-sister to Gleneagles.
Bred by Lynch Bages Ltd, the son of No Nay Never was bought by Charlie Gordon-Watson as a yearling for 300,000gns.
