No Nay Never Colt Tops September Yearling Sale

A son of No Nay Never proved a standout offering at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale, as the Mount Eaton Stud consigned colt topped the sale at €165,000.

A Holy Roman Emperor colt bred by Chasemore Farm topped the opening day of trade when selling to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for €100,000 and the same purchasers were responsible for Wednesday’s six-figure sale. Mick Kinane signed the docket as agent and later commented, “He is a nice big horse and will make up into a lovely horse in time. He is by a very exciting sire and it is good to get one for Hong Kong.”

The late April-born bay of No Nay Never was bred by Philip and Orla Hore out of a winning full-sister to Listed winner Agony And Ecstasy and a half-sister to Group 1 performer Medicine Jack. A delighted Philip Hore commented afterwards "I feel as though I have bred a Royal Ascot winner! He was always an easy, loose-moving foal. He has done really well in the last three months, I am thrilled."

Peter And Ross Doyle have enjoyed terrific success with sons of Footstepsinthesand, most recently with Mums Tipple, and stretched to €90,000 for another son of their favourite sire on Wednesday.

The Coole House Farm-consigned colt was bought on behalf of Middleham Park Racing, whose Tom Palin commented, "We are big fans of Footstepsinthesand and hopefully he will continue to be lucky for us. This colt will go to Richard Hannon, who is doing very well with Footstepsinthesand colts this season. We couldn’t find a nicer colt than him in the sale, we went back to see him three times and to have him vetted, and each time there were queues.”

BBA Ireland will hope their €55,000 purchase, a first crop son of Pride Of Dubai, will emulate the success of his talented siblings. The Railstown Stud-consigned colt is a half-brother to three black-type performers in Alta Lilea (Galileo), Mistress Quickly (Mastercraftsman) and Fighter Boy (Rock Of Gibraltar).
