No Nay Never Colts Draw Clear In Leopardstown Group 3
Battle Cry (3c No Nay Never– I’ll Have Another, by Dragon Pulse) took a step forward on his three-year-old return to lead home a 1-2 for No Nay Never in Sunday’s Group 3 Red Rocks Stakes at Leopardstown.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt won a valuable York maiden last August and was last seen finishing second to stablemate Mountain Bear (No Nay Never) in the Listed Star Appeal Stakes in October. Reunited with Ryan Moore on Sunday, he raced in last for much of the way and was asked to quicken from over two furlongs out. Finishing strongly approaching the final furlong, he quickened to beat stablemate Samuel Colt (No Nay Never) by half a length, with the pair finishing five lengths clear of the remainder.
“Battle Cry was working the best of the three of ours coming here,” later revealed. “Ryan gave him a very good ride. He'd prefer better ground and looks like he'll get a mile. He could be a horse for the French or the Irish Guineas.”
Bred by Lynch Bages, Battle Cry is owned by Coolmore partners with Westerberg. The son of No Nay Never led a treble on the card for connections, with Wingspan making a winning debut in the preceding fillies maiden, while Chantilly (Galileo) later made an impressive seasonal return.
