No Nay Never Filly Dazzles On Debut

No Nay Never’s latest crop of two-year-olds continued to impress on Thursday when Queen Olly (2f No Nay Never - Surprisingly, by Galileo) led home a 1-2 for her sire in the six furlong maiden at York.

David Loughnane’s newcomer was sent off favourite for the Class 2 contest and was ridden prominently by Amo Racing’s retained rider Rossa Ryan. Pushed along approaching the two furlong pole, she was ridden to lead before the final furlong and kept on well to score by three and a half lengths. Catch The Paddy (No Nay Never) made a smart debut in second, drawing five lengths clear of the third.

Speaking after the race, the delighted winning trainer said, “I said I thought she was the nicest we had. They don't always do it, but she's done it tenfold. I said the first day I sat on her that she's a Royal Ascot filly and she'll go for the Albany. It's all systems go.”

Queen Olly was bought by Alex Elliott and Ben McElroy as a yearling for €300,000. Bred by Diamond Creek Farm, she becomes No Nay Never's seventh juvenile winner of the season so far, with the crop also including unbeaten Listed winner Blackbeard (No Nay Never). They are No Nay Never’s first crop bred at a fee above €25,000, off the back of his champion first season sire title.
