No Nay Never Filly Draws Clear On Debut
Last Surprise (2f No Nay Never - Beta Tauri, by Oasis Dream) made a perfect start to her racing career when taking the six furlong Fillies’ Novice Stakes in style at Lingfield on Tuesday.
The Simon Crisford-trained newcomer was ridden to track the leaders and coasted upsides the leader with over a furlong left to race. Jack Mitchell asked his mount to lead entering the final furlong and she dually obliged, running on strongly to draw clear and score by three and a half lengths. Quiet Place, sent off favourite for her runner-up placings on her two previous starts, took second, with a further four lengths back to the third horse.
Owned by Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, Last Surprise was bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 72,000gns as a yearling. She was bred by Mrs and Mrs C Booth and Mrs C Cammidge and is a grand-daughter of Listed winner and Group 3 placed Beta, herself a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winners Bago and Maxios.
