No Nay Never Filly Earns Step Up In Class
Mysteries (2f No Nay Never - Hand On Heart, by Mastercraftsman) confirmed herself a smart prospect when leading home a 1-2-3 for Coolmore sires in Friday’s fillies maiden at Cork.
The Donnacha O’Brien-trained bay shaped with promise on debut when finishing third to Queen Mary Stakes hope Matrika (No Nay Never) at the Curragh last month. Racing over six furlongs once again on Friday, she was sent off favourite under Gavin Ryan and was one of two to race on the stands-side. Travelling well when asked to quicken at the two furlong pole, she ran on well to lead from the 110 yard marker and went on to win by a length and three quarters. Barrier trial winner Clarita (Calyx) finished a promising second, with another length and quarter back to West Of Wichita (Sioux Nation) in third.
“Mysteries is a lovely filly,” the winning trainer said after the race. “She had a nice run at the Curragh and she looks like she needs seven. We think she's a stakes filly.”
O’Brien mentioned the Silver Flash and the Debutante Stakes as possible targets for the daughter of No Nay Never, who is owned by breeder Flaxman Stables with Mrs John Magnier and Mrs MV Magnier.
