No Nay Never Filly Hits The Right Notes At Newbury
The future looks bright for Opera Forever (2f No Nay Never - Opera Gal, by Galileo) after the well-bred two-year-old won her second start at Newbury on Saturday.
The Andrew Balding-trained bay was sent off favourite for the fillies’ novice stakes over a mile and raced prominently throughout under PJ McDonald. Leading from two furlongs out, she was pushed along when headed approaching the final furlong and soon came under further pressure. Keeping on well, she led in the final strides to score by a neck, with another two lengths back to the third.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “Opera Forever's mum won a Listed race and this horse is by far the nicest we've had out of her. This is a nice filly and we'll see how she's working in the spring.”
Opera Forever races in the colours of Jeff Smith, who bred the daughter of No Nay Never out of his homebred three-time Listed winner Opera Gal (Galileo).
