No Nay Never Filly Impresses In Listed Feature
Friday saw Midnight Mile (3f No Nay Never – Ruby Tuesday, by Galileo) back to her best when recording a second Stakes success in the Listed Lyric Fillies’ Stakes at York.
The Richard Fahey-trained filly won her first two starts as a juvenile, including in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes, before finishing a fine fourth in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf. The bay took the same placing in a Group 3 on her seasonal return and was partnered by regular rider Oisin Orr on Friday.
Racing in midfield for much of the ten furlong contest, she began to make headway with three furlongs left to race and was pushed along to lead two furlongs from home. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she was eased down close home to win by two and a half lengths.
A return to a higher grade may be next on the agenda for Midnight Mile, who is owned by Mrs Richard Henry and Mrs John Magnier. Bred by the former under the Premier Bloodstock banner, the daughter of No Nay Never is out of a three-parts sister to Yesterday (Sadler’s Wells) and Quarter Moon (Sadler’s Wells).
