Trillium (No Nay Never) wins the Gr.2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster

No Nay Never Filly Lands Flying Childers Thriller

Trillium (2f No Nay Never - Marsh Hawk, by Invincible Spirit) continued a terrific season for No Nay Never when recording her second straight Group win in the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster.

An impressive maiden winner at Newbury in July, the Richard Hannon-trained bay set a new juvenile course record at Goodwood when winning the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes next time out, but faced Nunthorpe Stakes second The Platinum Queen on Sunday.

Ridden patiently by Pat Dobbs, the daughter of No Nay Never was pushed along approaching the final furlong and made good headway into second soon after. Ridden out, she ran down the aforementioned favourite to lead by a short head on the line, with the pair finishing over four lengths clear of the field.

Pat Dobbs was impressed by the winner, saying, “Trillium is very quick and very tough, it's everything you want in a thoroughbred. She was actually travelling too well and never really relaxed properly, so it was an even better performance, it's hard to do it on that sort of ground.”

Owned and bred by Rockcliffe Stud, Trillium holds entries in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. She is one of five Group-winning two-year-olds this season for No Nay Never, his haul made more impressive by the Group 1 victories of Little Big Bear and Blackbeard. July Cup heroine Alcohol Free makes it three top-flight winners overall this season for the top-class son of Scat Daddy.
