No Nay Never Filly Makes It Two From Two
Baga (2f No Nay Never - Afra Tsitsi, by Belong To Me) defied a penalty and remained unbeaten when taking the Prix du Jardin Japonais at Longchamp on Thursday.
Thursday’s seven furlong contest came over half a furlong farther than last months five length debut victory and Cristian Demuro gave the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained filly a patient ride towards the back of the field. Last turning for home, she loomed threateningly on the outside and quickened well when asked, measuring up to the leaders inside the final furlong. Running on well, she scored by a length, as Taranta (Gleneagles) narrowly headed Yomogi (Zoffany) for runners-up honours.
Bred by Ecurie Haras du Cadran in partnership with C Lerner, Baga was bought by her master trainer as a yearling for €80,000 and is now owned by Bernard Weill, Daniel-Yves Treves and Laurent Dassault. She is a half-sister to Group 2 performer Excilly.
