No Nay Never Filly Makes Perfect Start

Never Fear (2f No Nay Never - Matorio, by Oratorio) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut in Thursday’s six furlong maiden at Wolverhampton.

The Charlie Johnston-trained bay was the sole filly in the field and was ridden to lead by Franny Norton. Pushed along from two furlongs out, she was ridden inside the final furlong and kept on well to win by a length and three quarters. The front pair finished three and a quarter lengths clear of the field.

“Never Fear was very professional,” Franny Norton said after the race. “She had a little look about up the straight so I gave her a couple of little flicks just to keep her concentrated, but she has a terrific mind.”

Owned by the Eurolindy Partnership, the daughter of No Nay Never was bred by Frank Antonacci and David Reid.
