No Nay Never Filly Proves A Class Above At Newbury
Trillium (2f No Nay Never - Marsh Hawk, by Invincible Spirit) earned a step up to Stakes company when running out an impressive winner of Friday’s fillies’ maiden at Newbury.
The Richard Hannon-trained bay caught the eye on debut last month, when overcoming a slow start to finished second. Sent off favourite to go one better on Friday, she was held up in midfield by Pat Dobbs and was full of running with two furlongs left to race. Quickening smartly approaching the final furlong, she soon boasted a clear advantage and went on to score by four lengths.
“We might take Trillium to the Molecomb or Sweet Solera Stakes,” Hannon later revealed. “She took a while to pull up, but you could come back in trip with her.”
The exciting daughter of No Nay Never carries the colours of breeder Rockcliffe Stud.
