No Nay Never Juvenile Doubles Up In Group 3
Meditate (2f No Nay Never - Pembina, by Dalakhani) will bid to extend her unbeaten record at Royal Ascot after capturing the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Fillies Sprint Stakes at Naas.
An impressive winner of a Curragh maiden on debut, Aidan O’Brien’s representative was sent off joint-favourite as she stepped up to six furlongs under Wayne Lordan. Tracking the brisk pace set by Matilda Picotte (Sioux Nation), she was pushed along from two furlongs out and ran on well to assert inside the final furlong, leading by a length and a quarter on the line.
“I'm delighted with Meditate,” O’Brien said after the race. “She's very laid-back at home so is a hard filly to get a read on, but she won very nicely at the Curragh. We were hoping to come here and if everything went well, we would then have a look at the Albany with her.”
Owned by Coolmore partners and Westerberg, Meditate was bred by Lynch-Bages and Rhinestone Bloodstock. The €360,000 yearling purchase becomes a second unbeaten Stakes winning juvenile by No Nay Never this season, with stablemate Blackbeard (No Nay Never) taking the Listed First Flier Stakes earlier this month.
