No Nay Never Juvenile Quickens Clear To Listed Win
Whistlejacket (2c No Nay Never – Adventure Seeker, by Bering) booked his ticket to Royal Ascot when running out a commanding winner of the Listed First Flier Stakes at the Curragh on Monday.
Runner-up on debut, Aidan O’Brien’s representative was sent off favourite to go one better in the Listed sprint and led from the break under Ryan Moore. Quickening from the two furlong pole, he was ridden clear inside the final furlong and went on to score by three lengths and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, O’Brien said, “He’s progressed from his first run and did it nicely. He could go five or six, he has plenty of speed. He will probably go straight to Ascot.”
Whistlejacket became O’Brien’s third straight winner of the First Flier Stakes, his previous victors being His Majesty (No Nay Never) and Blackbeard (No Nay Never). His latest winner is owned by Coolmore partners with Peter Brant, having been bought by MV Magnier and White Birch Farm as a yearling for 500,000gns. The own-brother to Little Big Bear (No Nay Never) was bred by Camas Park, Lynch Bages and Summerhill.
