Pearls And Rubies (No Nay Never) Wins On Debut at Navan

No Nay Never Newcomer Earns Ascot Tilt

Pearls And Rubies (2f No Nay Never - Diamondsandrubies, by Fastnet Rock) shaped like an exciting prospect when running on strongly to win Sunday’s five furlong maiden at Navan.

Ridden patiently by Ryan Moore, the Aidan O’Brien-trained newcomer was asked to quicken from two furlongs out and finished strongly to lead close home. She beat the short-priced favourite by a neck, with the pair drawing over three lengths clear of the promising Asean (Ten Sovereigns) in third.

“We thought that she was very smart,” O’Brien later revealed. “She just kept coming and finished off very strong. She's obviously a filly with plenty of class. She could be an Albany filly.”

Pearls And Rubies is owned by breeder Mrs Richard Henry, who along with O’Brien, enjoyed Group 1 success with her dam Diamondsandrubies (Fastnet Rock).
