No Nay Never Newcomer Outclasses Rivals At Chantilly
Les Pavots (2f No Nay Never - Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) emerged as an exciting prospect when making all to win Thursday’s six furlong maiden at Chantilly in impressive fashion.
Breaking smartly under Tony Piccone, the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained favourite was in command throughout and quickened smartly when asked two furlongs from home. The winning margin was three and a half lengths, with runners-up honours going to Freville (Gleneagles), while Dance Sioux (Sioux Nation) took third.
Les Pavots provided a perfect start for the new partnership of owners Haras d’Etreham and Craig Bernick, who purchased three No Nay Never fillies privately from breeder Coolmore Stud last year. Speaking to the TDN, Etreham’s Nicolas de Chambure said, “Coolmore breed such brilliant horses, and it was great to be able to buy some of those well-bred fillies with long-term plans.”
Les Pavots boasts a fine pedigree, being a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Sir Dragonet (Camelot) and Group performer Sir Lucan (Camelot).
