No Nay Never Newcomer Wins In Good Style
Lake Forest (2c No Nay Never - Lady Aquitaine, by El Prado) shaped like a useful colt when making a winning debut at Haydock on Wednesday afternoon.
Tom Marquand took the ride aboard William Haggas’ newcomer and settled his mount towards the back of the field in the early stages of the six furlong novice stakes. Making smooth headway from over two furlongs out, the chesnut was shaken up to lead a furlong later and ran on well to win by two lengths and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, Maureen Haggas said, “When Tom asked him to pick the bridle up, he went whoosh. He's got a good character and a nice attitude.”
Owned by Silver Racing, Lake Forest was bought by Eighteen Bloodstock as a yearling for 180,000gns. The son of No Nay Never was bred by Sahara Group Holdings.
