Peach Tree (Galileo) wins the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes at Leopardstown

Peach Tree Completes Family Double With Second Stakes Success

Two hours after her juvenile sister won Thursday’s opening maiden at Leopardstown, Peach Tree (3f Galileo - Pikaboo, by Pivotal) won the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes on the same card.

A Listed winner over a mile last season, she finished second in the Group 3 Munster Oaks over a mile and a half in June and was stepping up to a mile and six furlongs for the first time on Thursday. Wayne Lordan rode her to track the leaders and was ridden to gain a narrow advantage inside the final furlong, staying on to win by half a length.

Wayne Lordan commented after the race, “Peach Tree is a grand filly that has been competing at a high level. She travelled smoothly and got to the line well.”

The Aidan O’Brien-trained winner is a full-sister to Group 3 winner Flattering (Galileo) and, as previously mentioned, their two-year-old sister Love (Galileo) justified favoritism on her third start earlier in the day. They are siblings of Lucky Kristale, winner of the Group 2 Lowther Stakes and Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes.
