Pride Of Dubai Filly Records Stylish Maiden Victory
A drop in trip saw Meydan Rose (2fPride Of Dubai - Gentle Breeze, by Dubawi) justify favouritism on the second attempt at Chepstow on Tuesday.
Having shaped with promise earlier this month, the Richard Hughes-trained bay was partnered by Pat Dobbs in the six furlong maiden. Chasing the leaders for much of the way, she made smooth headway from over two furlongs out and was shaken up to lead approaching the final furlong. Running on well under hands and heels, she scored by a length and a half on the line.
Owned by Jaber Abdullah and bred by Iman Hartono, Meydan Rose hails from the second Northern Hemisphere crop of Pride Of Dubai. Champion first season sire in his native Australia, his European performers include Stakes-winning juveniles Flying Visit, Fancy Man, Star Of Emaraaty and Zaffy’s Pride.
