Progressive Highland Reel Filly Proves A Class Apart
Didn’thavemuchtodo (3f Highland Reel - In Her Stride, by Mastercraftsman) proved well-named on Monday when running out an easy winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race at Killarney.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained bay created a fine impression last time out when winning her maiden at Naas and was sent off second favourite to follow up under Declan McDonogh. Tracking the leader for much of the mile contest, she was pushed along from three furlongs out and was travelling best of the field a furlong later. Asserting and drawing clear approaching the final furlong, she was pushed out to win by a comfortable five lengths.
Representing the winning trainer, Brendan Powell said after the race, “She is still only a baby but is going the right direction and I think there is definitely black-type in her and she can only progress. She has a lovely temperament as well.”
Owned by JP McManus and bred by Mrs Noreen McManus, Didn’thavemuchtodo hails from the first crop of globetrotting star Highland Reel. She completed the first leg of an impressive double for the McManus’s as owner/breeders, with newcomer Goodie Two Shoes (Fastnet Rock) drawing clear later on the car.
